How does an old-school Bosch L-Jet cold start injector fire?

Does it spray a mist of fuel, like a standard fuel injector, or does it squirt a stream? I’m trying to diagnose a rich mixture situation and have been testing the injectors. The CSI behaved VERY differently, but I don’t really know if it’s supposed to. It seemd to just dribble, although I had a hard time telling if it was the injector or a leak from the cleaning fluid straw mechanism I’d rigged up. It was clicking, but not exactly spraying.

Sorry, no video as I was using both hands to hold my testing rig. I need to set it up again and re-run the test.

When I did a CIS test on my 82 Porsche 924 it was “atomized” a mist...

Huh. Mine was DEFINITELY not a mist. It sort of dribbled, but as I said I really ned to do the tests over.

It should be a mist, just like any other injector. If the pintle is stuck or dirty, it’ll dribble out like that, which just pools the fuel in the intake.

That was my intuition. I’m going to try cleaning with some carb cleaner, maybe jolting it repeatedly. I really don’t wanna spend $150for a new one...
